Have an old laptop that I would like to run Windows 2000 on again. Unfortunately the device has a defective CD / DVD drive. Can I boot the Windows 2000 CD from an external CD / DVD drive that is connected via USB?
Can you erx an image of the cd on a usb stick?
Yes, I could do it.
Yes will work. But you have to set it in the BIOS
If so, go to your pc's bios and search for boot prioryty order. There you choose if you have a USB stick 1. USB stick 2. Hard disk opder similar.
if you only have a cd then plug your drive in before starting go to the bios select 1.cd 2hdd and save the changes restart the pc. Same goes for above

What do you want with Windows 2000, and such an old laptop that is from that time? I would transfer the operating system to the internal hard drive anyway, as it is usually faster, but with such an old device and operating system…
OK thanks
