USB to lan adapter in the switch?

I would like to establish a LAN connection via my laptop. Since this does not contain a LAN connection and I use a USB switch for mouse and keyboard, now the question is whether it makes a difference whether I plug the USB to lan adapter into the switch or directly into the laptop?
Does it also make sense to connect my laptop to the Fritz Box Repeater from the Internet speed? (No LAN connection on the first floor.)

You can only try it out, with a passive USB this can cause problems with the power supply.
