Hdmi port not working?

My problem is I bought a new laptop and wanted to connect it to my second monitor, only that doesn't work, the monitor with the same cable works fine with two other laptops, only with my new one it doesn't even recognize that an HDMI cable is plugged into the port has been.

I probably can't help you there, but I think it would be good for other people to say which laptop and which monitor you mean.

Have you clicked on "project" on the right under notifications (if you are using Windows)? You should then be able to choose what is shown on the second screen.

For me it says project and then the selection comes with duplicate and expand. Then sry, that was just a spontaneous thought, I don't know more, except that the port may be broken.
