)
I use 1 mobile router (no DSL)
also in the room:
1 laptop (BS Linux Mint)
such as
1 desktop PC (Windows 7)
and
Brother MFC J5910DW printer
…
in the next room
1 laptop (Windows 7
…
as well as for further disposal
1 repeater (Logilink11ac WLAN Repeater / AP / Router)
and various network USB cables and an old Fritzbox. (as I said without a landline)
…
The problem:
I want to be able to print from all 3 computers, I really have no idea about networks and no cable can be laid in the next room with the Windows LAPTOP.
Now I've tried and read and tried, found that everything is nothing… And then came up with the idea that my project could possibly work with the help of a repeater.
My idea:
Connect the Linux laptop, Windows laptop and Windows PC to the repeater via WLAN
(same SSID same password?)
and connect the printer to the repeater with a network cable.
Can this work or does anyone have any useful ideas to solve this annoying problem?
It would be great
Stay healthy, thanks and greetings in advance
simple question
You have to place all devices in the same network and preferably in the same IP subnet.
That means all connect to your mobile router via LAN or WLAN.
Why do you need an extra repeater for this?
It is not relevant whether the SSID is the same.
In principle, of course, the setup also works with the repeater. It must be located with the main router and get an IP address via DHCP from the main router. This ensures that the devices are on the same network.
You should be able to see all devices on the interface of the router and repeater.
With Windows 7 you should really no longer go online:
Thanks for the help, bettercallyou
What does "mean with the main router and get an IP address via DHCP from the main router?
I connect modem and repeater or main computer and repeater and miss it myself via DHCP ne address? How does it work? Oh yes, I don't necessarily need the printer as an online printer, I do more offline with it.
Thanks also for the reference because of the old OS, I'm on the Internet with Linux. Would be great if you could explain the rest to me (maybe during the weekend).
Beautiful evening
simple question
This is difficult to explain in text form. DHCP is an automatic IP address assignment.
Aha that can be done by filling in given values in a graphical program?
or do I get the new IP address t and have to read it out?
This is done via the web interface of the devices
Great, you saved me a few hours of reading on the Internet with your information. So I have all the information I need for my problem.
