I'm from the choice between 2 monitors but I'm not sure whether my laptop achieves the desired performance of 144 Hz.

Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 MHz
Nvidia GTX 970 M.
You probably won't reach 144fps. At most if you play older games with the lowest graphics settings.

You will probably get 144 Hertz in fewer games. Maybe in CS: GO or Minecraft, but in Rainbow Six for example, probably less.
If you have the games you want to play on 144HZ, just have a look at how much FPS you have in the games and if you only have 70 FPS or something, you don't need to get a new monitor.
