Is it possible to use an HDMI cable to run my laptop on an external 120Hz screen? The screen of the laptop has a maximum of 60Hz.
I guess so. The Hertz output depends on the screen and not on the graphics card, I think.
It is possible as long as the cable and the screen provide the corresponding throughput rate and your laptop also offers the performance:-)
It simply depends on whether your laptop graphics card is 120Hz capable. Otherwise you will also have 60Hz at External Monitor if your graphics card is not 120Hz capable.

Does the graphics card have to be 120Hz capable? Do you know if this is it? And do I need a special Hdmi cable for this?
