I would like to connect 2 monitors to my company laptop - that is the initial problem. The Lapi has a USB-C port and an HDMI port, where the monitor is currently connected. In order to be able to connect a second monitor, I got an adapter that has 2 HDMI connections and has to be connected to the USB-C socket. But if I do that, I will no longer have a power supply for the Lapi. (If the battery runtime is 8 hours or more per day, the battery will no longer work) That's why my idea was to get a splitter for the USB-C, where on the one hand power goes in and on the other hand an adapter for 2 monitors goes out. Is that possible? Does this make sense?
I'm not sure if USB Power Delivery will work through such a "splitter" (hub?).
However, there are special USB-C docking stations that are designed to supply the notebook with power and at the same time to provide connections for multiple monitors, peripherals and Ethernet if necessary. But they are relatively large. (Mine is almost as big as my audio interface.)
Good idea - I'll try it out.
