I have a huge problem with my Windows Vista. Have downloaded all the browsers and all do not work. I'm thinking about getting a new laptop after Christmas, but who has good tips on how to surf the Internet safely with an unprotected browser? So fast I can't get a new PC and Vista is outdated and totally annoying. I would be very grateful for any advice.

Mozilla Firefox ESR is the last browser the Vista supports.

Download here: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/

Security updates have not been around since September 2018.

Pale Moon is an enhanced version of Firefox and although officially no longer supports Vista, the browser and latest updates should be up and running

Can you give it a try?

W10 is an unsafe operating system, rather take the free and virus-safe current Mint, the operation is like vista.

The DVD image for the installation is available on linuxmint.com legally and free to burn yourself. A secure browser is installed, as well as full versions of Mediacenter, Mail, Chat, Ripper, Mediacenter, image editing, paint program, mobile phone software, formatter, PDF generation and more.

A virus scanner is not needed for high-quality operating systems says BSI.

I would install a Linux distribution instead of reusing Windows Vista. This can be useful to continue to use an old computer. As a distribution, I would recommend Lubuntu. This is an official Ubuntu devirat, but with the LXDE desktop. It even takes much less system resources than Windows Vista. The computer goes off like a rocket. Here is the download of the ISO: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/...p-i386.iso Then write the ISO with this tool on an empty USB stick https://unetbootin.github.io/ or if the computer does not boot from USB with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/ burn the ISO to a blank DVD.

Now boot the DVD or the USB stick. The installer offers the possibility to completely delete the hard disk. It automatically repartitions and reformats the disk. I recommend a full installation. This also Firefox, Libreoffice, multimedia components and productivity tools is installed.

After completing the installation and the first reboot, the Update Manager logs in the taskbar. Install these updates. The update manager cares not only about the system but also about the installed programs. You do not have to update every single program like with Windows.

How to install programs: Start Menu> System Tools> Software. This is operated like an Appstore.

If you absolutely need the Flashplayer, go to the start menu> system tools> LXTerminal. Enter the following and conclude with Enter:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer -y

This installs a script that always automatically downloads and installs the latest Flashplayer from the Adobe page.

And so you automatically get the latest Firefox. Enter the following with LXTerminal and conclude with Enter:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: ubuntu-mozilla-security / ppa
sudo apt-get update -y

When that is done, the update manager logs in and you can update Firefox.

Also the download on Youtube is possible under Linux, just install this Firefox addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/...converter/
