Remotely control media playback on a laptop?

Maybe some of you know that: you stream a series or a movie over the laptop and have it connected to the TV via HDMI. If you want to stop now, change the episode etc. Do you have to get up and walk to the TV?

A longer HDMI cable is too impractical for me, because otherwise the thing is on the sofa, where anyway so little space.

What I'm looking for is something like a USB plugin, which can be controlled via a remote control. Just Start, Stop, Pause, Next, … And that will ideally be supported by the better known programs, e.g. AIMP Media Player, VLC, Amazon Video, Netflix, …

Have already considered a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard, but also that is somehow impractical…

I'll do it with my game controller (xBoxOne)

I would recommend the Amazon FireTV, Chromecast or Apple TV.

Depending on what you "stream" but can also be a USB HDD sufficient, which then allows playback on the TV (and thus the remote control).

But there are also cheap remote controls that can be connected to the PC, for. To use Kodi. For example, The Hama MCE Remote Control PC Remote.

lo

My boyfriend does that with a mini keyboard of logitech (wireless) with a built-in touchpad.

I mostly stream: DAZN, Amazon Video or Mediathek of Public Law (ARD, ZDF, Third Programs). My laptop is connected to the Internet via Ethernet and I connect it to the TV via HDMI. So nothing that is on a record…

The Hama looks very nice, I'll read a little something - thank you!

Cool idea, unfortunately I have no console.

I did not know that there was such a thing. Sounds good! I found one for 30 euro. A little more than I wanted to spend on it, but that's it.

Bi

Then buy an Amazon FireTV Stick. To the 20 euro and good is.

Neither do I…
