Does anyone know how i can use team viewer to use my computer when i'm with a buddy e.g. When I can boot up my laptop at home?
've read about Wake on lan but think this is only about your own network

someone knows

Ge

For example, From a distance to the router. From there, do WOL.
Of course, everything must be set accordingly.

Fl

Do you know how to do it

Vi

With a VPN tunnel and WakeOnLan.

st

I don't think Teamviewer works.

But basically it works if it is configured accordingly. However, I would never set this up because the quality of the security risk does not stand for it.

Ge

Sure, I've used that with me.
Can you reach your red one already?
If not, that's the first step.
Instructions on how to set it up on your particular router can be found online.

Ge

We also use this here in the professional environment.
Do you have any details about possible security risks?

st

Since I put these things right away, I'm also not very competent when it comes to security. I totally avoid it. For example the service "remote" (or something like that). It enables remote maintenance, for example.

In any case, what I could imagine is that a third party accesses this remote control. If I were a criminal, I would choose my number one target here.

Of course, all of these things are programmed to "not work". It's like driving a car. If everyone does everything right, accidents never happen. In fact, however, we have hundreds of accidents every day.

If you do it professionally, I would book a network guru to put it on you. However, make sure it is Really good. I could set it up for you too - but it wouldn't. Because just modest self-assessment is not good enough. Not many have this humility when they can get money for something.

Ge

Ok, that calms me down. I've also been in this field for twenty years.

Fortunately, you can't compare technology and people, as in your accident example. Technology is what it is. She's not having a bad day or drinking too much. ^^

st

I'm afraid that technology does in a way. Years ago I wrote a program that crashed about every 6 months. It took me another 6 months to weave in a variable value backup program and find the error. He was foolish. An array was one digit short every 6 months.

But for you that means: The Microsoft and Teamviewer programmer is only human. He programs security gaps with a probability bordering on security. A lot of companies were hacked. And maybe we just don't know about the others.

For example, I have my own company email address, which I only give out if I don't trust a company 100%. About Adobe, the giant! They were also hacked. My address has leaked 3 times. KNOWN leaked. Nobody knows how often hacking is covered up.

Do you think you can avoid it more than others? You have to remain a realist of your own abilities.

Ge

"An array was one spot short every 6 months."

I thought that was not a spontaneous mood, but technically / logically understandable.
But then you go over to the general problem of hacking.
I was interested in VPN on the router and remote maintenance software.

A gap can certainly occur everywhere. But Teamviewer e.g. I still think it's so safe to use it.
Otherwise I would ultimately have to pull the network cable and basically stay offline.

st

I also use Teamviewer. However, this is different than starting up the computer from the network. Teamviewer is easy to configure and personalize.
