Why do microphones stop working on my laptop?

I have a Razor Kraken USB headset, and I recently lost the ability to use the microphone on it. I've tried different headsets on this laptop but none of them work anymore. Could it be that something has been changed in my sound settings? I haven't actually changed anything and everything looks right…

So

Have a look in the settings under System / Sound and then under "Select input device", whether your headset microphone is selected. You can also look under "Device Properties" to see if your microphone is disabled.

It is activated and I can also select it in different programs like discord or teamspeak, but it just doesn't work anymore. It is activated, set as the standard device and listed in the normal way under "Recording devices".

If nothing has been adjusted it should actually work.

If none of your headsets work that worked before, most likely it's really your laptop.

Have you tried all of the USB ports? One connection may be defective and no longer recognizes any devices.

Or, if the laptop just doesn't recognize any headsets, it could also be due to the sound card. So on the onboard sound system.

See if it's the connection, otherwise it could be your sound card.

Do you have games that may have changed something on their own?

PS: Just read your answer below.

Did you mute it

So

Maybe it is disabled in the device properties. In the device properties you can click on "Additional device properties" on the right and then under "Device use": Use device (activate).

So I've now also tried to see if my headset works on someone else's PC and it works right away. At the same time, another headset (not USB) is connected to my laptop and only the sound is output, but the microphone is not.

So everything works with the headset, only something must be wrong in my laptop. I compared the settings on both PCs and it looks identical… Unfortunately, I can't test anything else because I'm on the road.

Oh yes, and I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall all audio devices from the Device Manager. Just like before… I really don't get it

I don't know anything else, I could only recommend you to do some research for any tips like this: https://praxistipps.chip.de/...-tun_30225

and to try it all. Otherwise I don't know what to do next, sorry
