So I have an older laptop that had no software, which is why I loaded Windows XP on it. After a month, the activation lock came and I could not remove Windows XP.
How can I delete XP again? I can't get in when the lock is activated
I also don't know where to download windows vista or how?
Other Windows are out of the question because the first owner only wants Vista😐
Do Linux Mint or something. To get Windows XP down, you can simply reset the hard drive on another PC.

If you install Windows 10 over it, you are rid of Windows XP too.
So Windows 10 can also be used without a key and that works well on weak PCs.
Make a boot disk / USB and make Windows 10 on it. You can then simply delete the Windows XP partition on the hard drive and install Windows 10.
Should I then burn Windows 10 or buy a new one or how should I proceed? 😅😢

Windows is absolutely bad for older devices because the newer Windows systems draw a lot of power in the background and the old ones can hardly do anything. Better use a more stable operating system besides windows
Then have a look at YouTube → create windows 10 boot disk (or something like that.).
There are enough tutorials. It is not that hard.
You can do it yourself. Also with the Windows XP laptop. To do this, download the Microsoft tool here https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10 Then insert the USB stick and start the tool.
I always get the activation lock and I don't even get into the menu; my drivers didn't work on my laptop either

You can buy a full version of Windows XP for a few cents on Ebay or elsewhere and then upgrade to Windows 10 with a program!
