So: got a new laptop at Christmas, from Medion. I really do not work with it, mostly I watch Netflix with it or play a game. Since yesterday, the laptop simply turns off, then it says "is shut down". Can then turn it back on normally and that's pretty quick too. The laptop is also quite warm when used for a long time, when I notice that I turn it off first and wait until it cools down. And that's why I ask now how I can solve the problem and why it could be?

Could possibly be that the laptop due to the heat down itself. Maybe that helps: https://www.amazon.de/...07FKLVVVM/
So basically the calculator should not turn off "just like that". When does that happen exactly? Was he not in use for a long time or did you not move the mouse for a long time? Then maybe it might be because he is configured to use e.g. After 30min "inactivity" shuts down. When looking at Netflix, this counter should stop though. Could be the case anyway.
If it shuts down directly while in use, it can almost be due to the battery or an accidental key press.
Is he driving down properly? So error message or bluescreen?
There are still a few places you could check, but I do not know how much you have so far related to WIndows.
Oh, because of "heat" I would not shut it down. All PCs of recent years independently monitor their temperature and correct them with downtimes of the CPU. So if it is a bit warmer, that is just "normal".
Where is the laptop (place)?
Is he used on the sofa or in bed?
Medion is not a quality brand, is rather cheap mainstream stuff. The fact that it warms up quickly is often due to the components used which generate a high level of waste heat which, due to under-dimensioned cooling, often overheats and passes on the signal for shutting down the system. This is how the PC turns itself off or shuts down. It sometimes happens that the air supply from the laptop's cooling system is either dusted up or delivered with other materials, so that optimal cooling can't be guaranteed.
Thanks for the answer. Sometimes the laptop suddenly goes down when I watch Netflix, for example. Yesterday happened several times in a row, but do not think that was because of inactivity. Today I looked again and there it was only once, otherwise nothing was.
