Shutting down is better in your case. If you do not need it for a long time, it's definitely better than just leaving it on stand-by. First, it consumes less power and second, the laptop can shut down if necessary updates.
I always fold it and then think after a month why the battery is empty.
You should shut it down, it will save power and the laptop will not be unnecessarily burdened.
