How can I configure my Windows 7 laptop for remote desktop?

I've read quite a bit, step-by-step instructions, this one… Everything didn't work. TeamViewer does not work, even the official remote desktop app from Microsoft can't connect to my laptop. I had once tried "ubiDesktop" (Remote PC), which also required the RD Client app. I even compared the settings!

Not all versions of Windows support this. Which one do you have? So Home, Pro, etc.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to Windows 10.

Well, with 1 GB of RAM it will be difficult to upgrade to Windows 10 or even 8, I've already tried it. But in Control Panel there's 1 remote desktop option, but only allow or disable remote control. I also do not know which version of Win7 I have installed. Definitely a 64 … 😅

First of all I would upgrade with your Windows 7 key to Windows 10 for free https://support.microsoft.com/...-assistant because Windows 7 just isn't secure anymore because it doesn't get any more updates. If you don't have your key anymore, there are programs to find it out

With 1 GB! DDR2! R.A.M*

What do you need it for? Sounds like a task for a Linux.

Unfortunately, my laptop doesn't meet the requirements for installing Windows 10. If I could upgrade, it would be 1000 times easier to connect my smartphone to my laptop, so I wouldn't have asked this question at all. Because as described above, a few days ago I tested a service called "ubiDesktop" that provides remote desktops. And I had Windows 10 Enterprise installed on my virtual PC / Cloud PC / Windows Server. And to use it, I had to download a file that gave me access to it. This file simply contains the remote desktop profile for Microsoft Remote Desktop / RD Client. And in the system settings of my Win7 laptop there's even an option for remote control available, but you can only activate and deactivate remote access, so I know that it is somehow possible. I just don't know how.
