I have the problem with my laptop that I insert a DVD and it is not recognized. There's always the message Please insert a disk. Maybe someone has a solution?
Is it because a DVD drive or maybe "only" a CD drive?
It is a DVD drive I have already watched DVDs.
It's about a blank (a teaching DVD)
There's no playback program which can play the contents of the DVD (eg VLC or media player)
Your laptop does not have the necessary drivers to use the drive accordingly
The DVD is out of date, the drive does not recognize it anymore

Well it could still be that the drive is damaged by external influence, the lens broken (the latter are quite sensitive), or the DVD in any way outdated or unreadable. Did you try this on other devices to play?
Yes on a PS4 or a PC, it works flawlessly
Maybe the lens of the drive is broken as you say
Then the lens could either be broken or blocked by something.
Please specify operating system and type of DVD.
