Why is my external hard drive not recognized on the notebook but my USB stick?

Is it perhaps because of the fact that the external hard drive has a connection of USB 3.1 and the USB stick only USB 2.0? I'm at a loss!

The notebook has no USB 3.1 port but only USB 2.0.

Is this a Toshiba hard drive by any chance? Some turn off and need a driver to start again.

Give Amazon this hard drive and look at the reviews, if others have problems with it.

Has to correct me, is still a Transend hard drive! I'm already looking for a driver on the Transcend site.
