I got a used laptop as a gift and wanted to connect a headset and or a microphone. After wondering a few times why I always have such a strange noise when recording or skyping in the background, I found that the laptop does not receive the noise through the external recording devices but through the internal microphone on the screen. I have already tried to switch this microphone off with the result that the laptop reported to me that there's no sound card.
What can I do to get the laptop to understand that it should no longer record via the internal microphone? Are there devices where you can't connect anything else?
It is normally the case that if you connect the external one, the internal one should switch off. This is usually also the case with loudspeakers. Could be somewhere in the settings. I only have one sound chip, but it works there.
This is not normally the case with the thing - that is the problem.
