PC power supply for other purposes?

Would it be possible if I jump-start my old computer power supply and with 12v in my case to use an audio amplifier or should I rather buy a normal laptop power supply?

The power supplies for PC systems are usually designed so that a certain load must be connected to each voltage so that the power supply can also work (switched-mode power supply). Do not make it often burns tensions or destroy yourself (because of idle or unloaded circuit)

If you strain all voltages correctly, you can also use the voltage you want to use accordingly.

For earlier power supplies, it was sufficient, for example. An old hard drive (may well be defective) to connect and the pins 14 and 15 to connect to the main connector, so it ran independently without motherboard. It is therefore not necessary to load all outputs.

PC power supplies have excellent properties compared to laboratory power supplies of the same price category:

Short circuit protection

Excellent screening, humming, stable tension

On 12V output enormous power, who can already over 30Ampere, 500W?
