I plan to buy a rather expensive notebook. It is currently not available in Germany and should be a lot more expensive than originally stated. I would therefore like to order it in Switzerland, where it is many times cheaper than it will ever be here. However, the provider does not deliver to Switzerland.

Can I now order the device in my name and have it sent to a friend's address / or who will pick it up and then send it to me from Germany?

St

You can order it from abroad, even to your friend's address. For the import, however, you have to pay import fees - that is at least 19% of the purchase price, depending on the goods there are also customs duties.

I would have to see for myself what applies to laptops. But if you can just do a Google search to find out…

Am I standing on the hose now? The part is significantly cheaper in Switzerland than in Germany, but is not delivered to Switzerland. That's why you want to order it from Switzerland and have it delivered to a friend in Germany, where it is much more expensive but also not available. Do you want them to send you the part, which is not available in either of the two countries (but much cheaper in Switzerland), to Switzerland? Hmm, explain!

However, no matter in which direction: Remember that you have to declare it in any case. Is it still cheaper then

Gu

Even if it is brought across the border by car? It's not a delivery in the sense that it could belong to the person who drives it over.

Gu

Misspellings 😅

Should mean that they do not deliver to Germany. Even with a customs fee of 650 euro it would be even cheaper 😂

But theoretically, if the person brings it over by car and is sent from Germany to Germany, do you still have to pay customs?

Gu

And what about, in theory, if I picked it up myself in the shop?

Gu

And how about if I picked it up myself from the dealer's warehouse?

St

Even if it is brought across the border by car?

Naturally. You introduce anyway

Isn't a delivery in that sense

Customs duties are not just related to delivery

it could also belong to the person driving it over.

It could, yes. In case of doubt, this person has to prove where and when the device was purchased.

In Switzerland it is due because it is not an EU country.

And how about if I picked it up myself from the dealer's warehouse?

Since this will also be in Switzerland, it makes no difference. You have to declare customs

Op

When importing from Switzerland to Germany, 19% import sales tax plus customs duties (depending on the type of goods) are charged. It doesn't matter which way you bring the part to Germany.

Yes, that would be smuggling… Just tell customs about your legend. You will be amazed that you are not the first to tell a legend like this…

Gu

The question has now been settled anyway, because I have decided on another device that I buy here in Germany.
