Games with the idea to buy a powerful tower PC and use my laptop only as a mobile emergency device (or chill for couch / bed). Can't just make friends with the idea of having something stationary again.

Depends on it but in terms of possible performance Modularity and prices performance is the Tower PC still the measure of things.

At home: always
for out of the house my smartphone is enough for me Notebook / Laptop would be too uncomfortable for me or Too expensive to lug around with it always.
Out of the house I have no compelling need for it.
Clear advantage with the tower is for me: you can replace parts if one is broken or you want to upgrade something - if the laptop is broken something you can knock it in the bin or repair expensive what may not be worthwhile then-so broken my laptop is synonymous with me again Tower. For mobile-go enough for me the smartphone.nachteil is the space and the cable clutter on the large PC
