A few days ago I reset my laptop with Windows 10. Since then my laptop is very slow from time to time. For example, when I open a new website or Windows Explorer, the mouse takes forever to move. In very rare cases, my laptop makes a deep beeping.
I've had my antivirus program scan for viruses a few times, updated the driver of my video card, and generally looked for and installed new updates. But still, my laptop is slow at times. I do not even have many programs that take away a lot of memory. Also all autostarts, which are not very important, I have disabled. Even the CCleaner did not help much.
What I noticed: my recovery drive (D) is almost full, of the 16.7 GB are only 1.62 GB free. Can the slowness be related to that? Only I would like to format the drive reluctantly. Because then all my backups are deleted, right?
I do not know much about the technology, so I ask for understandable explanations.
First, one should secure his important things (documents, music, videos, pictures etc…) on an external hard drive.
Instead of resetting Windows, it's better to reinstall Windows cleanly. This requires the Media Creation Tool https://www.pcwelt.de/...68566.html and a blank formatted USB stick.
After creating the stick with the Windows Media Creation Tool, simply boot the stick. Then Windows will be cleanly reinstalled. The installer reformats the entire hard drive completely. You do not have to enter the product key, it is permanently integrated in the BIOS / UEFI. When the installation is complete, just log back in with the Microsoft account. Windows will be reactivated.
Finally, you go to the manufacturer side of the laptop. There download and install the drivers. After that, everything runs smoothly again.
Keep this stick well. Reinstalling is always better than resetting.
How big does the stick have to be if I use Windows to reinstall it?
At least 8GB
