Fans on my laptop are extremely loud, even though they have just been cleaned. What can I do?

I had the laptop cleaned in the computer shop because I had read that very loud fans are almost always due to dirt / dust. The employees there also said so. Now I have got the laptop back and the laptop is even louder than before. What can that be? I actually use the laptop a lot to study in libraries, but the laptop is much too loud for that, you can easily hear the fan from 5 meters away.

I throw them away when they get loud, cost about 5-10 euro.

The dirt that accumulates over the years is usually difficult to remove because it is already a stuck mass, not just dust. If you scrape it off or try to clean it, the propeller will no longer run cleanly and quietly. Therefore better throw out and make new ones. LG

Maybe the fan is just broken.

You should have given "Make quieter" as an order.

Ro

So do you think it's the fan itself? Does replacing the fan completely solve the problem?

ox

I think the fan is no longer properly stored or has been damaged due to the dust… If you had to replace it costs 7-15 euro, the company where you would have had the laptop cleaned but should also have noticed.

Or your processor's thermal paste would need to be replaced.

Yes the cleaning attempt has probably affected the fan, because they are quite filigree. If you mess around with it, they lose their optimal running properties. I would order a matching / identical on eBay, then open the case of the laptop, unscrew the venti on the underside, the electrical connection is a small plug that can be removed carefully, possibly clean the intake shaft a little and the new one in reverse order clean up, done:-) Then runs super quietly, like new. Mine also sounded like he was about to take off after several years. That gets on your nerves, of course… Quiet is really more pleasant. LG

Here I just randomly fished out a

Fans on my laptop are extremely loud, even though they have just been cleaned. What can I do

when you tinker with it, they really break or bend easily. As you can see, this model has only 2 fastening screws (holes) and a small plug that can be carefully removed or pushed on. Manageable effort:-) and in terms of price, don't kill me now, maybe 10 to 20 euro I guess… LG

Ro

Are fans usually always the same size or do I have to measure my previous fans or something similar?

El

So if you unscrew the chassis from the laptop and lift it off, there's probably a type designation on the venti that was installed or you can search for a suitable one for the laptop model, then it says "Fan / fan suitable for…" I have 2 for safety, 3 times ordered from different manufacturers, and weirdly one only ran permanently in the highest level, without degradation in performance, when the computer is cooler, directly into the garbage, another ran disproportionately loud, even at low level, annoying, I like gladly if they are quiet, also in the trash, the third was perfect. But it was also cheaper from China… So you can't say how you hit it. Maybe it's a bit of luck. Maybe yours will work right away.

Some laptops have / had already been really annoying at the factory under certain load - loud cooling solutions depending on the hardware equipment.

Therefore, due to a lack of detailed information, it is unfortunately not possible to say whether the hardware manufacturer had worked sluggishly in the maintenance order, possibly neglected / overlooked other problems (dried-in heat-conducting paste or fan defects), or whether only the fan control (now) may be closed aggressively hired by you, or any previous owner of the book.
