How do I know which power adapter my laptop needs?

My power supply has been lost

Jo

Would google the model of the laptop and then reorder the power supply on the manufacturer's website or buy one of these universal power supplies that are compatible.

mo

Voltage (volts) 19 volts
Amperage (amps) 7.1 amps
Output power (watts) 135 watts
Input voltage 100-240V / 50-60Hz

Didn't need 2 minutes for it, if that's true with "Acer Nitro 5".

But costs around € 60

If it doesn't have to be 135 watts, you can also find something for around € 20 at e-bay.

That's why you're the expert

https://www.elektroniknetzteil.de/acer-nitro-5-an517-51-netzteil-original-135w-144456

would this be the right thing? But I don't need a purple connection.

mo

That looks good.
It could just be that the plug doesn't fit. Unfortunately, the various laptop manufacturers used different connector diameters.
But shouldn't be a problem. Deposit, new on (2.- €).

Do the plugs have names?

mo

Should be found under DC plug.
But only if the one of the mentioned power supply really doesn't fit.
The mean thing about things is that you have to know the pin diameter in the laptop and the outer diameter of the connector.
Obviously nobody wants their power supply to fit into another laptop, even though the electrical data match exactly.

But since Acer is specified, I would buy it first.
