I still have an old laptop that I would like to use to stream videos to a TV via USB (simply with hdmi). Unfortunately, the laptop is simply too bad and can't play videos smoothly. Could you somehow delete everything that you can only play videos, or load something on it so that it becomes fluid
Ubuntu
Shut down the operating system and install Linux. Runs everywhere, and if he is only supposed to be able to videos, that's perfect.
Perhaps you can simply restart Windows or reset the entire laptop.
You can delete everything and install Linux then it might be better
Is it enough if I reset it or do I still have to do something?
You can reset it, but it would be better to do a new installation (remember that all files on the computer are gone), or to switch from Windows to Linux.
I never had any files on the laptop and I never used it
Well then down with the old one and on with the new ^^
Yes, I will, thanks
I recommend installing the free Cloudready operating system. Then that laptop is turned into a Chromebook. Cloudready requires very little system resources. Here is the download: https://www.neverware.com/freedownload
You need the USB Maker and an empty formatted stick with at least 8GB. After you have created the stick, you boot it on the laptop. Just follow the instructions of the wizard. When you start the installation, everything on the laptop is deleted beforehand. A restart takes place after the installation is complete.
Then the initial setup wizard appears. Simply log in there with your Google account. Your Chromebook is now ready. The very last step is to go to Settings and then to the Media Plugins section. There you can then install proprietary codecs with just one click. Then the Widevine DRM component is also installed.
Videos run smoothly and without jerking. Cloudready also plays video and music files from sticks and external hard drives. You don't have to install a player, just double-click the video file in the file manager. Then a window will appear with the video with controls. You can then play it in full screen.
I still have a 10 year old laptop with an Intel Core2 Duo and 2GB of RAM. I installed that on it too. It runs extremely quickly.
