Connected my monitor to my laptop with HDMI, the monitor can operate at 144Hz, but I can't set 144Hz in the Nvidia control panel, why not?

Can the monitor even use 144Hz via HDMI or can it only do that via Displayport?

Look whether the power cable is plugged in, many laptops go into "energy saving mode" when the power is not on.
