Possible virus on my laptop?

So I downloaded sims 4 (but illegal) and I wanted to open it. When I clicked on it, it started shortly, but after that my laptop crashed. I tried to turn it back on but that did not work. Only after I connected it back to the mains (I still had 48%). Immediately afterwards I uninstalled Sims again and let Microsoft Defender control 2x if I have a virus and 2x he also showed me that everything is okay.

My question: is this a virus now?

Sc

That it is illegal, you already know, why do you do something then and even give it to the public?
Microsoft Defender is about as trustworthy as a rusty ladder.

If you have a proper antivirus program then start your computer in safe mode and let it search thoroughly.

If you do not have a real antivirus then make a point, especially if you want to do such actions more often

I think that is up to everyone here what he does for illegal things. Here are also questions about kiffen.

I think the questioner has also learned his lesson

Sc

Yes, you are probably right. I should not judge

Viruses want to go undetected, they do not make themselves so blatantly noticeable or suspicious. Therefore, I do not believe in a virus. Otherwise scan your PC in safe mode again with Windefender or just another one. If nothing is found, then there's nothing. I rather think that the game was badly programmed.

How can you secure the PC?

St

There's no 100% hedge. But you do a lot, if you do not crack cracked or illegal and do not click on every attachment of an email. Otherwise, Windefender is already quite good. I would recommend but a little more a purchase program, I personally recommend ESET Antivirus or ESET Internet Security, the former is sufficient but completely, because every router has a firewall and the Winfirewall is good.

Create a Kaspersky Rescue Bootstick on another computer. It works like this:

Install this tool: https://www.balena.io/...io/etcher/ Allows you to create booty sticks from ISOs
Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO: https://support.kaspersky.com/de/viruses/krd2018

Insert a blank formatted USB stick and start the tool
Now with the tool flash the Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO on the stick
When done, just boot that stick into the affected laptop and scan your system.
