Jo guys, I wanted to get a laptop for the university and I also decided on a model. Only now I do not know whether I should tend to 256 or 512 GB. The price difference is a good 120 euro.
Do you think 256GB is enough? As I said: Uni, YouTube and maybe 2, 3 rather smaller games.
For a pure office PC if the win fits on it, 80 GB would be enough.
But let's see it realistically. A poor quality film can have around 500-700 MB in good quality, sometimes even up to 2 GB.
An MP3 has around 5-10 MB at about 5 minutes.
Video usually has more and quality decides.
The operating system also needs some space.
Such a game newer games are around 40 GB nowadays.
smaller games around 2-5GB
If you now count that on the amount of son PC you are using, the GB will quickly be full.
(I therefore have a terrabyte disk that can be bought separately and pays around 50 euro)
Simply buy an external hard drive for the games and push the libraries of the launcher onto it. Or install the game right there.
If you are working with a cloud, this 256gb is enough for you, I use my Galaxy Tab S6 for this purpose and thanks to the cloud, I'm not only maximally flexible with the data, I also have tons of storage space and do not have to save everything on the tablet.
As long as you don't overdo it with the games, that's enough for you, should you run into problems, you can retrofit at a reasonable price if necessary, alternatively it also makes an external hard drive.
256G is not enough for a Windows 10 laptop. With my laptop, I only have 150G free of 256G. And of that you have to leave 50G free for the system and 5-10G need programs.
With a Macbook Air / pro 256G is enough. Because the system is compact.
But in the end, I can only recommend 512G. Better to have more and pay a little more and not need than to need and not have…
How does this price difference come together?
A 256 SSD costs 50 Eus. A 512er costs 70.
My tip: take the variant with the 256. Buy a 512 for 70 in the media market and have it cloned and installed by a friend of yours. As a reward, he can keep the upgraded 256.
