Libraries: Do I have to pay contributions if I only want to use the reading room?

I just want to sit down in the reading room and work on the laptop in peace. Do I still have to pay membership fees?

I live in Berlin. So if someone has recommendations…

So you really only need the contribution if you want to borrow books or other media. As long as they stay in the library everything is okay.
