I have a usb 2.0 port (4 ports, the plug and the outputs everything is usb except the connection with my laptop) My question is whether it makes a difference if man a usb hub (as described above) in a usb 3 port does it matter or does it not matter?

Wa

No advantage / disadvantage if the device does not support 3.0

re

What do you mean geanua my pc supports usb 3

Wa

If the device does not support anything on the PC 3.0, you have nothing to plug it into a 3.0 port

The USB interfaces are limited only to the specification for which you are designed.

If a USB 3.0 port is present and you use a USB 2.0 hub, you can expect maximum USB 2.0 performance at the port because the USB 2.0 hub is only suitable for USB 2.0. So you give away some bandwidth.

If USB 3.0 connector is equipped with USB 3.0 capable components and the used USB chips can also exchange in the specifications accordingly, one can expect also USB 3.0 achievements. But even here, not every USB 3.0 component is compatible with every other USB 3.0 component.

I've already experienced that different USB 3.0 components fit together functionally but the bandwidth with USB 3.0 did not materialize. Therefore you should inform yourself beforehand.
