I would like to use my TV as a monitor for my laptop.
The display of my laptop is unfortunately almost completely defective so I can't use it without an external monitor.
I have already tried to connect the TV via HDMI with the laptop neither Windows button + P, Fn + F4 or via display options, it is possible to connect him. I now have an old monitor connected to the laptop with another plug (think DVI means the connection) here was the switch to the other screen without problems.
In the system settings or in the computer, the abbreviation HDMI can't be found for me. Every time I plug in the HDMI plug of the TV, the computer switches from "only second screen" to "Duplicate" and can't be changed as long as it is plugged in. However, it duplicates only on the old monitor and even if the monitor stays out the TV does not receive a signal.
My suspicion was that it might just be a missing driver, but would HDMI settings still be present anyway and the drivers actually installed under Win10 or not?
Would be glad if someone could help me in which you tell me why it could be that the TV receives no signal and how I should now proceed best to solve the problem.
Use Win10
I have no idea, but you do not have to set the TV on HDMI?
Sure, of course I have selected the right HDMI port on the TV
This is only possible if the TV is intended for it. There are such TV and you would have to look in the manual.
Yes I do not mean that the TV itself must be on HDMI. At least it's the same with my TV, if I want to look from USB, then I have to set USB and so on.
I think the TV should be geieignet geieignet would not know what else HDMI connections should be available. The manual says: "HDMI inputs to connect other devices with HDMI ports."
I think we mean the same thing, eg. I plugged in HDMI2 and select in the TV as a source HDMI 2. The Playstation is plugged in HDMI1 and if I use the I select HDMI1 as source in the settings etc.
or did you mean something else?
Does your laptop have an HDMI connection? Not mine. But I can connect a very ordinary monitor, where the same image is displayed (not to be confused with split image, there's synonymous). I use this for training where others are shown what.
Yes the laptop has a HDMI port the problem is that it does not work at the moment whether I want to use the screen expand, duplicate or as the only monitor. With another port and monitor it works without problems.
That's exactly what I meant!
