I hope you can see in the picture, which connection this is. The hard drive comes from an old laptop, which does not work anymore. But I would like to get to the data. I have seen that there are several adapters to buy that are based on e.g. Convert USB. Can someone help me, if there are such adapters for this connection and where I could buy this?
Many thanks and best regards

Your hard drive has the 2.5 inch version of an IDE or PATA connector, what you need is either a corresponding adapter or a corresponding housing.
A case would have the advantage that you can continue to use the hard drive as an external hard drive, even if it is only limited useful with only 40GB of memory.
At Amazon you get these cases already for less than 10 euro:
The connection you see here is not part of the hard drive.
Unscrew hard disk frame together with these adapters, then find a normal IDE connector.
Search on ebay for "IDE to USB", you get matching adapters from 5-6 euro.
Right answer! DH!
"Normal" IDE, yes. But it must pay attention that the 2.5er IDE is not the same as the 3.5.
But you can't go wrong because of the clear difference. The adapters also know both IDE connection.
