Is the internet speed influenced by the WLAN router?

Is the Internet speed only determined by the provider you have or is this also influenced by the router?

Can you increase the Internet speed if you also connect the laptop to the WLAN router with an Ethernet cable?

I thank you for all answers in advance!

St

Lan is always faster than Wi-Fi.

st

"also" is the wrong word:

Lan is always faster than Wi-Fi.

However, if you connect Lan AND wlan at the same time, you take bandwidth away from the LAN. So switch off broadcast and plug in the router, then you will be the fastest.

OK. Many thanks. So I should just connect the LAN cable to the router? Sorry for asking, but I'm not that knowledgeable in this area.

The slowest route is always the bottleneck.

With Wi-Fi you have a connection between ~ 100 and ~ 500 Mbit / sec.Cable connection is of course faster at this point with mostly 1,000 Mbit.

Then comes the internet connection, which can be anything between 1Mbit and 400Mbit. DSL is usually between 4-100 Mbit. At this point, Wi-Fi is fast enough.

If you don't have a fast fiber optic connection or similar Have and from a correspondingly strongly connected side what is downloading, WLAN is usually not the limiting factor.

Yes.

Imagine an internet connection like a tap: hose on and the water flows cleanly and with little loss. If you take off the hose and press your finger on it (w-lan), it is wet everywhere. At a loss.

If you plug in a leaky hose (Lan and Wlan at the same time), less water flows and it is a bit wet all around. Worse than just Lan.
